This page shows forecast data of solar and wind energy in Belgium/Flanders, using data published by VEKA (Vlaams Energie- en Klimaatagentschap) at www.energiesparen.be/stroomvoorspeller. The table below provides a yearly overview of installed peak capacity. The actual yearly energy produced depends on the (yearly) capacity factor, and a rough estimate is eleven percent for solar photovoltaic (PV) power, twenty-one percent for onshore wind and thirty-eight percent for offshore wind. This can vary during different seasons, as shown in the monthly overview below.
Power [MW-peak] | 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Solar PV - Flanders [1] | 2240 | 2370 | 2560 | 2800 | 3220 |
Onshore Wind - Flanders [1] | 794 | 911 | 1130 | 1230 | 1290 |
Offshore Wind - Belgium [2] | 712 | 712 | 877 | 877 | 1560 |
User guide: hover over the plot to view monthly or daily energy production data, expressed in GigaWatt-hour (GWh). You can disable or enable energy sources by clicking on the legend of a figure. A png image can be downloaded with the pop-up window at the right upper side. These functions require that javascript is enabled. Figures refer to VEA as data source, which was merged into VEKA end 2020, see acknowledgement for more info.
